A Research on the Effects of Solution-focused Group Art Therapy on Improvement of Sibling Relationship and Well-being

Abstract

|
This study is to learn the effectiveness of Solution-focused Group Art Therapy on the improvement of sibling relationship and well-being. Study subjects were 6 sibling children (6¡13 years old) in a Family Care Center in A city, who participated in Group Art Therapy for the improvement of sibling relationship by mother's inducement. The experimental group received 10 therapy sessions in total, each lasting 100 minutes. Measuring tools used were Sibling Relationship Index and Well-being Index. Wilcoxon signed ranks test was used for the data analysis of Sibling Relationship Index and Well-being Index, and Qualitative analysis for the progress of therapy sessions. The results were as follows. First, the Solution-focused Group Art Therapy had positive effects on the improvement of sibling relationship in general, and there were positive changes in the scores on Gentleness, Conflict, Relative status, Competition, etc. Second, there were also positive effects of Solution-focused Group Art Therapy Program in the well-being of sibling children, producing meaningful results especially in Family Environment, Self-characteristics, Capability, Relationship, etc. Therefore, it can be concluded that Solution-focused Group Art Therapy effects positively on the improvement of sibling relationship and well-being.
